I had the beast in my possession.
I proceeded to take this imposing piece of roaring metal down some less populated areas of the local township. About 12 wannabee gangsters in Cloetesville, #Stellenbosch, were sitting on a public road at the time and basically refused to move over when I politely approached them. I managed to squeeze my way past with difficulty on the first pass.
While preparing for the second pass, it suddenly struck me that I was in a car (a beautiful one at that!) and roads were made for cars to drive, and not for the impolite to lounge on. The outcome?
My right foot reacted to my sudden great clarity of thought and planted itself on the second pass. Suffice to say, there was a flutter in the chicken coop which I observed in the blur as wannabee gangsters moving off the public road with an alacrity that would have unnerved Usain Bolt (had he been born by then!).
Let me just say that this act of youthful bravado did not improve my personal safety in the township - it however greatly improved my general awareness.
Next, I need to tell the story of how I got my driver's licence. No, I did not purchase it from OK Bazaars -the 'best' local chain store at the time!
